Sophie Monk has been on our screens for more than 20 years, and these days she is the face of Love Island Australia. Now she is opening up about something far more personal: she still hopes to become a mum, at 46.

She told the Daily Mail that she and her husband, Joshua Gross, have “tried lots of times”. She is careful about how much she shares, and fair enough. But becoming a parent is still something she sees for herself.

## What has the road looked like?

It has been a long one, and she hasn't hidden it. Sophie has been open about IVF before, and she has had two egg retrievals, in 2018 and 2022.

The second was on her 43rd birthday in December 2022, and she posted from her hospital bed: “It's my birthday and I just had an operation to get some eggs, and we got a lot which is great.”

In true Sophie style, she still finds the funny side. “I wish someone would just drop a baby off for me at the front door,” she joked. “And I'd be like, ‘Oh gosh, it's fine’.”

## Who is in her corner?

Josh, first and foremost. The pair married in an intimate backyard ceremony at their NSW home in March 2022, and they have just marked eight years together with a trip to Fiji.

Sophie calls him her biggest supporter. “He's just giving me heaps more confidence,” she said. When work gets heavy, “he reminds me it's just a job”. And when she worries about what people think, his line is simple: “That person's not even thinking about you.”

## Anything else on her mind?

Money, and trust. Sophie has recently been in legal disputes with her former management team. Asked about her costliest financial mistake, she said it was trusting people with her money. “That's been my biggest flaw,” she admitted. “I haven't learned it, actually. I keep doing it every time.”

“I think life can be too tough out there sometimes.” Sophie Monk, speaking to the Daily Mail.

## Our take

Two decades of making Australia laugh, and she is still the most real person in the room. We're sending Sophie and Josh all the love, and we hope the front door gets its delivery.
