Love Island's Shawnee Schein dropped by supplement brand Nu Harvest

The brand pulled a campaign she modelled for after comments aired in Tuesday's episode

Supplement brand Nu Harvest has ended its association with Love Island Australia contestant Shawnee Schein and pulled a campaign she modelled for, Mediaweek reports, after comments she made about fellow Islander Ava Toulson in Tuesday night's episode.

Nu Harvest founder Georgie Stevenson announced the decision in an Instagram video. "We have always been about female empowerment," she said, calling the comments "so unaligned to our brand, our values, and what we stand for."

Schein, a fitness creator, was hired as a model months before she joined the show, and the campaign was filmed in September, according to Mediaweek. Yahoo Lifestyle reports the brand had just posted a Black Friday video featuring her.

The comments aired after Schein's match, Lachie Cubis, kissed Toulson during a challenge. Schein later told Cubis, "I'm being a little bit mean, sorry, I'm salty," Mediaweek reports.

Stevenson said "it is never okay to body shame or criticise a female's body", but also asked people not to target Schein online, saying the brand does not support online bullying.

Mediaweek says it has asked Nine for comment. Whether the network or Schein responds is the next thing to watch.
